Take a closer look at some of the people who work for the BC Public Service.

The role of the public service is to advise government on policy options, implement government decisions, and carry out the general administration of government services. A professional public service respects and supports the elected government and its mandate by providing non-partisan advice and maintaining the highest standards of integrity.

In today’s world, the workforce that makes Canada’s third-largest province tick serves an almost unimaginable array of functions. Some examples include achieving transformative change in the care and education of our children, developing new approaches to provide quality health care, expanding prospects for economic growth with the Asia-Pacific region, supporting communities affected by the mountain pine beetle epidemic, building a new relationship with First Nations to achieve lasting reconciliation, and carrying out a successful 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

With this vast scope of responsibility, the BC Public Service is uniquely positioned to positively impact the lives of millions of British Columbians and to provide a high degree of exposure and job mobility across many different subject areas. And we are actively planning to make it even easier for our employees to move between ministries and assignments to take advantage of diverse opportunities.

We invite you to learn more about the diverse work of the BC Public Service by reading the profiles of some of our employees.
