Video Summary:

I'm Steve Brown. I'm Assistant Deputy Minister for Medical Services Division and the best thing is I have a really challenging job, it's fast paced and I work with a really great team of people.

I came five years ago, moved here from Alberta. I spent most of my career actually in child and family services and came to Canada 20 years ago this week. At the time [I moved from Alberta], there was actually an opportunity to move into health, which I'd never done before and I had an interest in getting engaged, so I took the chance moving and leaving the cold winters behind.

I think right now we are going to look at primary care and move that agenda. We're coming off the negotiations, we got a good result. We also got the lab deal signed off, which has been a massive cost avoidance for us in terms of the division, so that's a positive. On those fronts, primary care with the lab deal, we're now trying to move into the patient focus to see how we're getting the value for money in terms of the changing patient needs. We think that will make a contribution to the overall agenda for health.
