Independent Investigations Office

Consider one of the IIO’s hiring opportunities and play a part in building B.C.’s historic civilian led independent investigative agency.

"It is critical that British Columbians have confidence in our police and that the police are accountable to them," said Premier Christy Clark.

The Independent Investigations Office (IIO or Office) has been established to conduct criminal investigations into incidents that involve B.C. police officers and result in death or serious harm. It is a civilian-led Office that has been established in accordance with the recommendations made by the Braidwood and the Davies Inquiries.

The long term goal is to set a new standard for civilian-led investigation and accountability that will enhance the public’s faith in the dedicated officers working to keep them safe. The Chief Civilian Director Richard Rosenthal has stated that the public can expect an investigative approach that will be transparent, accountable and fair to citizens and to those who may be subject to an IIO investigation.

The IIO hiring initiative will include a range of diverse opportunities to work in this vital provincial office. These positions will range from administrative positions to high profile investigative roles. Consistent with the provisions within the legislation, there will be a special focus on recruiting civilian candidates with investigative experience.

Consider one of these positions and take the opportunity to live in beautiful B.C. and participate in a high-profile and ground breaking provincial initiative that is striving to provide accountability to all British Columbians.
