Community Involvement

Giving Back
Every day, the work of the BC Public Service has a positive and profound impact in B.C. communities. But our employees also contribute with more than their jobs. Each year, our employees are actively involved in raising funds to assist people in need in all regions of the province.  The Provincial Employees Community Services Fund (PECSF) was founded in 1965 with a mission to coordinate a workplace fundraising campaign that enables BC Public Service employees to support local charitable organizations that strengthen our communities. Provincial government employees have the ability to donate to a variety of organizations of their choosing, or to give to the fund in general. Employees have engaged in many innovative special events throughout the years, including country fairs, numerous raffles and our annual Pop Stars showcase featuring the hidden musical talents of some of our employees. All levels of the public service create opportunities to socialize and raise money to give back to the community.

We are extremely proud that:

  • 100% of employees' donations go to charitable organizations
  • Government absorbs all administrative costs
  • Donations stay within the local community
  • The 2006 campaign raised over $1.7 million
Many employees have been inspired by the PECSF campaign and now regularly support additional community and fundraising events throughout the province.
